The tunnel

Sunday, June 14th, 2009 by Jen

Last weekend we went to IKEA and picked up a tunnel now that Josie actually crawls. I think the one’s that love the tunnel the most though are the cats. They go crazy for it at night and love to hide and stalk each other through it. When Josie has friends over it’s very popular as well.

Happy cats

Here’s your birthday present, Larry, since you like to remind us to not forget our first children. We’ve learned that George loves cheese, Fred eats it sometimes, and Mio likes avocado. Josie also likes to offer her food to the cats (I have _no_ idea where she got this habit from).

Ok maybe stuffed animal could describe multiple things, but only one is made out of cotton.

Ezzy loves Minkee

Monday, February 9th, 2009 by Jen

Ezzy loves to sleep on the babycarrier whenever she finds it on the couch. It’s lined with Minkee.

Continued toy confusion

Monday, January 5th, 2009 by Jen

With the new round of gifts comes a new round of toy confusion. Ezzy loves to just put herself in the middle of the pile of toys and see which ones look like fun. The top ball of her stacking tower is much coveted by all!

It snowed!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009 by Jen

Last weekend we got some major snow. Some fun photos with the dramatic light! It’s rough staying inside for so many days in a row. Sadly, we were so busy getting ready for the holiday we didn’t manage to take Josie outside to play in it. We won’t miss the next opportunity.

It’s so sad to be furry…

The cats are starting to change their tune about the baby as she continues to hang around the house. Ezzy hits back now if Josie hits her, but thankfully she’s gentle. George cringes and backs away when Josie approaches. Mio will continue to risk life and limb to be pet. Kaya will sit on the changing table despite being repeatedly grabbed by Josie just to hold ‘her’ territory. Fred likes to start a ‘conversation’ right when I’m trying to get her to go to sleep. They were all mystified about how they’re supposed to handle this new challenge pictured. Let’s just say that it’s not a quiet noise when 17 1/2 lbs of cat lands after jumping the obstacle. It also took him and Mio a good half hour to decide how to deal with it.

Dual purpose toy

Saturday, November 15th, 2008 by Jen

Josie has a new love for untying shoes. She even tried to untie her pediatricians shoes on Monday. She also wants to eat the laces which is not permitted for various reasons. So I made her a toy of untying laces by threading cut up shoelaces through a box, and it turns out the cats really like it too. On a related note, I’ve started to clear out the cat toys of those that are choking hazards and bought the cats some new bigger toys. I have to hand those out in the morning though, otherwise the cats dive bomb throughout the house waking Josie up at night.

Just when I thought I’d cleaned up every bodily fluid mess…

Thursday, November 13th, 2008 by Jen

This morning, Mio threw up his cat food… onto Ezzy. No there is no picture. I had to chase Ezzy down to clean the mess off of her as she spread it around the house.

Ok this doesn’t compete with other people’s kid’s who have spread their poop all over their crib and selves, but I haven’t had to deal with that yet.

The view looking down

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 by Jen

George seems to be a little attention starved as this is the current picture of what is in my lap as I look down. He has an impeccable sense of when the baby is sleeping and insists that my lap is now free for him (17 lbs of dead weight) to recline upon. One other thing we’ve changed with the cats is calling them name-cat, such as George-cat, Mio-cat, Ezzy-cat, etc. because otherwise I’m wondering if Josie would ever quite pull it together that they are all of the same species, i.e. a cat. I want to make sure she has a word to identify them with for when we see them outside or at a friend’s house. Yet I don’t want to insult our lovely house-mates by ignoring their names.
