Josie singing
Saturday, October 30th, 2010 by JenHere’s another video of Josie singing. She likes to sing a lot in the car and often around the house. She’s a little tone deaf still but it’s nice to hear happy sounds coming from her. Here’s a bit of “I’ve been working on the railroad” and “Polly Wolly Doodle“. Keep an eye out for Fred! I didn’t think Jordi was drunk while filming this, but I’m not sure what else happened 🙂
Pumpkin sumpkin
Friday, October 29th, 2010 by JenThis year Josie was very excited about carving the pumpkin. At least before we started she was. She first wanted a ghost on it, then a cat. So we went with both. I let Jordi get in with the messy work while I held the camera and Celia. Josie also decided the messy pumpkin work wasn’t really for her either. Unfortunately I missed her later refusals on the camera, but they were pretty funny. Here’s a tiny bit of her work scooping out the guts. I had hoped to do some pumpkin painting too, but since it’s already Friday, maybe not.
Growing like a weed
Friday, October 29th, 2010 by JenCelia is growing quickly, we’ll find out on Monday exactly how fast, but she’s developed a bit of a double chin and her clothes look like they’re shrinking by the minute. Diapers too. She’s one heck of a sleeper thus far which is a far cry from how Josie was at this age. So we’re feeling pretty good. She’s fairly predictably awake for about 2 hours once she does wake up during the day, one hour at night for feeding and changing. Then she naps again for 2 hours during the day and 2-4 at night.
She eats, she sleeps, she poops. Not much to a newborn, it’s very clear Josie wishes she would do more and be more awake. So we take some pictures when she finally manages to spend some time awake and some sleeping ones.
Josie at 2.5
Friday, October 29th, 2010 by JenToday is Josie’s half birthday! I still didn’t buy her the cupcakes at the grocery store when she asked. I’ll have to write a big long thing out about her development and such but right now I’ll just go for more pictures as Josie’s had a cold, Celia’s got it now, and it looks like Jordi is coming down with it.
We’ve been moving a lot of clothes around with the change of season, so Josie took advantage of the tubs around to play in.
We’ve also been enjoying all the tissue paper included with gifts and made some ‘stained glass’ art work together!
She’s also been enjoying playing some more complicated pretend games like grocery store cashier. She likes to scan everything, you’ll often get more money back than you gave her, but she forgets to bag a few of your groceries too.
Celia’s update
Monday, October 25th, 2010 by JenTook Celia in to see the doc today and she’s gaining weight like crazy, up to 7 lbs 13.5 oz, that’s up from 7 lbs 2 oz last Wednesday and a birth weight of 7 lbs 9.4 oz. So she’s definitely getting enough milk so I’m not going to worry about her sleeping too much at night, during the day though I’m still going to focus on getting her to eat relatively frequently. And now, gratuitous photos.
Which is Which? the answer
Sunday, October 24th, 2010 by JenWow more than 50% correct. I don’t think I’d have gotten it right if I hadn’t picked out the pictures myself or noted the eye gunk or picture quality.
Top one (a) was Josie, bottom (b) is Celia.
For those following along in Celia’s development. We had some constipation issues from Tuesday – Saturday which resolved last night thankfully with a major pooptastrophy and a followup today. Now she seems like maybe she’s got the hang of it. Josie has also figured things out again with the potty and has returned to underwear wearing again after a few days of diaper-envy. Tomorrow we go to the doc again to see how much Celia’s gained.
Which is which?
Friday, October 22nd, 2010 by JenJosie’s first thoughts about the baby
Thursday, October 21st, 2010 by JenFunny picture
Thursday, October 21st, 2010 by JenWe’re all doing well. Just busy with the toddler and the regular doctors appointments plus trying to spend more time sleeping. Celia was 7 lbs 9 oz at birth, 7 lb 4 oz on Monday and then 7lbs 2 oz on Wednesday so it looks like her loss rate is slowing down and the doc is satisfied. We go back again on Monday.
Here’s a photo I liked of Josie introducing her baby doll Clara to Celia in the hospital just after Josie got there. Might want to zoom in to see Celia’s expression.
Josie is holding her new water bottle that was a big sister gift “from Celia”. Josie assumed that I also pushed that out along with the baby so we’ve just gone along with that story.
