One of our favorite places to visit down in Miami is the zoo, it’s huge and very impressive. Last time we visited Josie was about 7 months old and she was interested, but not entirely engaged with actually looking at the animals. Now she’s very excited to see the new animals, except for the elephants somehow bothered her. She kept telling it to go away, oh well.
She brushed a pig and fed sheep. She marveled at the camels while we ate our lunch. The howler monkeys were a huge favorite as they were making a ton of sounds and the tigers had a big fight right while we were watching — Josie cheered them on ‘mas mas’ (more more).
She also loved the playground and we even managed to get her to take a nap so we could stay most of the day. If you go with kids when it’s hot, bring your water shoes and swim suits, they have a lot of water spray areas which we didn’t let Josie run around in because she lacked the appropriate attire.
Sadly, in late November, Jordi’s grandfather, Juan, lost his battle with cancer. We got the call on Thursday at noon that he had taken a serious turn for the worse, we flew down that afternoon at 4:30, and he got to see us and Josie again the next morning. Josie gave him some stickers and he joked about cute Josie’s pouting face. He passed on Sunday evening after several more visits. His funny stories, warm encouragement, enthusiasm for life will be missed.
Holidays are busy! We’ve got so much to do and we’ve got packed fun days, like today we went to a birthday party at Jump On In in Woburn which Josie LOVED. Might have to consider that for the next birthday. I had to drag her up the 20 ft slide while she was asking to go back down, but once she went once she was hooked.
Josie got two new teeth a few weeks ago, the left side canine teeth! She’s working on the ones on the right side but so far these teeth have been quite mild, especially compared to the molars.
These days she’s just having a good time and getting into the ‘I can do it myself’ phase of life. She can put her jacket on (but not zip it) and on the good days she can put her own shoes on. She can also put her own undershirts on and pants and shirts occasionally.
Happy holidays all if I don’t get more time to post and update everything! Hopefully we will
Here’s Josie dressed for winter, minus the boots, which we only just bought today finally. I kept trying to find some to borrow and Josie’s feet just kept growing all along, to the point of where her right one measured a 6 today and the saleslady said I should buy a 7 then so they aren’t too small by the end of the winter! Maybe we shouldn’t feed her so much and she’ll stop growing so fast?
When I took Josie and Zach to the zoo the other week it was very empty. We even got the entire gorilla exhibit to ourselves and initially the gorillas were all laying around sleeping like my cats. Eventually though the baby got up and came over to us at the window to look at us, which scared the pants off of Zach and Josie. I was in awe, but of course with the upset kids, had to go. After I took the photos.
