This was about the 6th video Josie urged to shoot of the two of them together jumping. I wish I could bottle this because I sure could have used some today after Celia woke up practically every half hour last night. Each one ends with “ok that’s enough pictures”.
Well looks like my previous post could have been called, spot the geeks among our friends and loved ones. Plus the closeted geeks that emailed me the answer separately, you know who you are. The CMU crowd came out in force. For those complaining about the lack of a single possible solution, yes, common sense was required. When I next get their height’s confirmed I’ll have to do another word math problem that’s a bit trickier. The correct answers were 16 and 32 lbs.
My daughters have very mathematically pleasing weights right now. Celia is exactly half of Josie’s weight, and they both weigh a power of 2. How much do they weigh (in lbs)?
Here’s what the girls look like, well, today. Took this shot this afternoon on a rainy day where Josie was being a little to rough with everyone and Celia couldn’t stop whining that she can’t get up and walk away. She’s literally trying to rock herself to her feet while she sits. They’re asleep, we made it through.
Last week for mommy needs some cookies now Purim, we made Hamentashen cookies for the first time in either of our lives. The dough was easy, but the recipe was terrible because they neglected to mention to add the water (or quantity of said water) they listed in the ingredients. I couldn’t get anything to stick together but thankfully someone else commented about this mis-step in the online comments and we finally figured it out. I was way too lazy/afraid Celia would wake up in middle, to make a real filling. We stuffed them with chocolate chips instead. They were yummy and Josie really got the hang of pounding out the dough by the end and filling them.
I continue to have a mostly black thumb although thus far we are growing some good zucchini plants. On week three the basil and impatiens looked like this.
I separated them and moved them to my mom’s house and so no photos of them now but there are tons of little cups of plants all over her house because she has more space. We’re really not sure how many we’ll need to keep, but we haven’t even built the raised bed yet so we’ve got some time to think it over.
By week 4 here’s what our house had:
Those are the zucchini plants that managed to grow. I replanted some seeds and planted some new ones and now seem to have the hang of growing zucchini plants. We may have many to give away. How many zucchini plants does one need to get a reasonable yield? Anyone willing to help will definitely be given the fruits of our labor too! We’ve got at least 20 of them now (5 or 6 weeks in) all growing strong. Basil isn’t looking so great, but the impatiens perked up since getting replanted where many of them didn’t make the transfer.
I also planted some butternut squash in that tub on the left. They have not grown into anything at all. I tried planting some more of them less deep and I believe I may have sprouted two, but I didn’t label them well so they might just be zucchini plants too. I tried removing some of the top soil on those plants. I don’t know what I did wrong, the package said to bury them two inches in, but again, I am not good at this. Good thing I don’t have to grow my food for a living. If anyone has any helpful advice about planting and growing these things I’m all ears.
Right now Celia’s favorite game is ’empty the shoe box’. I fill up a shoe box full of baby toys and she pulls them out and explores them and dumps it on the floor. She chews on everything. It’s a good game, especially when it lasts a long time. Sometimes I ruin it by putting the things back in the box and she cries, silly mommy trying to clean things.
Peekaboo, walking and bouncing/jumping are the other favorites currently.
Last week, I think on Wednesday, we found Celia’s second tooth. She is still clearly teething like crazy and the top teeth look like they won’t be far behind as they are very bumpy and bulging. You can almost see the teeth in this shot.
Josie has done a few funny memorable things lately. First she’s decided ‘fancy’ dress means running around in her skivvies. Two girls walking and running around naked after dinner has become the norm here.
Yesterday at brunch, we went to Flora, yummy as always, she was alternating between eating whipped cream and lentil soup. Not exactly what I picked to eat.
Josie has a very good memory. But somewhere along the way she decided to update the story of how Celia got her name and why. Now she tells everyone that she named Celia. She decided that Cecilia was a good name and she decided that would be the baby’s name ‘before she even saw her’. Plus any more children we are to have (a boy has been requested) are also to be named Cecilia. I’m just glad she continues to claim Cecilia as her own sister.
