30 days of thankfulness: day 21 – dolphins

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 by Jen

On Wednesday we went to the Miami Seaquarium which has three different shows featuring dolphins! It was so much fun getting to watch them flip and dive and do all sorts of cool tricks. We were the first ones in the gate and got to the main tank first. The dolphins found us quickly and were so excited to stare back at us through the windows and play around. The girls were thrilled and so amused. Celia played it cool at all the shows, not seeming too interested or happy, but she was concentrating highly as when we got home and in the days that followed she showed us her versions of the dolphins tricks and told us all about them. “Dolphins walk!” “Look at me like dolphin!” We also got to see the killer whale which was really intimidating for me, having read about all the incidents involving killer whales over the years with their trainers. Seeing her jump was awe inspiring and just a moment that feels like it was in slow-motion as she was so massive and jumped so far. Lots of fun pictures from this day.

30 days of thankfulness: day 20 – water

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 by Jen

Clean fresh drinking water. Fun blue pool water. Rain quenching the grounds thirst. Ok so I didn’t take many pictures on the 20th, but this was apparently the highlight of Josie’s entire trip to Florida. I asked her what she liked most (and stay tuned for what we did on the 21st!) and she says go swimming. Which was for about half an hour when it was in the 70’s and the pool unheated. I didn’t go in except for my ankles to play lifeguard and they played in the little steps area right there and had a great time.

30 days of thankfulness: day 19 – Tio Javi

Sunday, November 25th, 2012 by Jen

Monday we finally got to Miami and Celia was so excited to see her uncle Javier. He’ll play at her active bouncy speed and they have a good time together. He kept her well amused and helped lighten our load with carrying her for the week too!

30 days of thankfulness: Day 18 – my inlaws

Sunday, November 25th, 2012 by Jen

Loyal readers do not fret! We’re back home and I am trying to fish through the backlog of life. Last Sunday and throughout many days of our visit I was thankful for my inlaws, Tere and Gilbert, as they entertained, played with and cleaned up after my children while we visited them. They took them on two train rides and three merry-go-round rides as we walked around downtown Disney.

30 days of thankfulness: day 17 – safe travels

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 by Jen

We’re moving about and so I haven’t stopped with the pictures or the thankfulness, just the internet connections. For the 17th, a day of safe travels makes us all rest easier, even if Celia was the screaming baby on the plane for a few minutes.

30 days of thankfulness: 16 – Fred and George

These two buddies are a pair. They love each other and regularly cuddle. They’re huge and they drool. They’re afraid of everything.

30 days of thankfulness: day 15 – my camera

Thursday, November 15th, 2012 by Jen

I’m thankful for my camera! which I did not take a picture of, but here’s a fun example of me setting up the picture for Celia and Celia running back and forth hitting the button on a timer  to take a whole series of her and me shots this morning on the couch. They’re not perfect, but it was a fun time and they’re not bad either!

Cecilia’s self admonitions

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 by Jen

Celia has now reached the stage where a lot of her inside thoughts are being verbalized. Like when she’s running away, she says ‘run away!!!!’ She also is internalizing many of the ways we correct her behavior. For instance, petting ezzy she says ‘Gentle Ezzy!’… Then… “Don’t hit!’

Or driving by dunkin donuts, she yells:

“Dunkin donuts!” (because the girls spot dunkin donuts like we used to spot punch buggies”

“Don’t yell!”

It’s fun to get the glimpse inside and see some of our lessons actually, finally starting to stick.

30 days of thankfulness: day 14 – neighborhood friends

Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 by Jen

I love how we live in a neighborhood full of kids that are my kids ages. Josie’s got a bunch of friends that are 3 and 4 and 5, even one girl literally born on the same day. And now Celia’s got her own set of buddies within a few months of her age too. Today we were at the park with Scarlett and Connor and their moms, chilly but still warm enough for a morning outing!
